Long-term iport Business portal user Caledonian Alloys have just taken the decision to migrate their industry leading CATS software system (built with iport Business portal technology) to the new Microsoft SQL server 2005 platform.
The MS SQL 2005 platform is a highly secure, reliable, and fast platform to run applications. Performance is a key factor in this decision; the new version of SQL Server boasts an impressive 29% increase in the number servicing requests handled per second.
CATS is core to Caledonian Alloys phenomenal success and growth in the last year has been stellar - revenues up from £14m to £38m.
Caledonian will open a new state-of-the-art facility in the United States this year, adding to existing operations in China and the Czech Republic. Some 70% of Caledonian’s business lies in exports – 60% of which goes to America. The remainder is split between the UK, Germany and Austria. All of their facilities are linked together by an iport Business portal and the upgrade to MS SQL 2005 will further improve security, performance and resiliance.
